Hell’s Gate National Park is situated just northwest of Nairobi. The park spans an area of 26.35 square miles (68.25 sq km). Hell’s Gate shares its borders with the nearby Lake Nakuru National Park.
Located just 56 miles (90 km) from Nairobi, the park sits at an elevation of 6,200 feet (1,900 m) above sea level. The primary attraction of the park is Hell’s Gate Gorge, which also lends its name to the area. The gorge is flanked by red-walled cliffs and features two notable volcanic rock formations called Fischer’s Tower and Central Tower.
A smaller gorge veers away from Central Tower, leading to a region with hot springs. These springs are sufficiently hot to cause burns. Within the park, you will find two extinct volcanoes known as Olkaria and Hobley’s.
