Arusha National Park is a delightful small park situated in the northeastern part of Tanzania. It is located close to the city of Arusha and offers stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro. The park is both scenic and diverse, featuring a wide variety of animal and plant species. Additionally, it boasts a rich array of landscapes, including lakes, waterfalls, swamps, volcanoes, mountains, and tropical rainforests – making it an ideal habitat for numerous animals. The swamps, rainforests, and lakes draw many beautiful bird species, such as the silvery-cheeked hornbill and thousands of pink flamingos. This park uniquely offers the best chances in northern Tanzania to observe the black-and-white colobus monkey.
Safari Activities
One of the popular activities for safaris in Arusha National Park is to embark on a canoe or walking safari accompanied by an armed ranger. The Momella Lakes, located in the northeast, provide a diverse array of wildlife. They are situated in an open landscape and are inhabited by hippos and numerous bird species. Many bucks and buffalo can be spotted near the lakes. This offers a fantastic opportunity to experience wildlife up close, providing a different perspective compared to being inside a safari vehicle. It is truly a memorable safari adventure!
Mount Meru
Mount Meru is situated within Arusha National Park. As Tanzania’s second tallest mountain, it stands at an elevation of 4,566 meters (14,990 feet) and is classified as a dormant volcano. Climbing this mountain is both stunning and demanding. The panoramic views from the summit, which overlook the park’s steppes, Mount Kilimanjaro, and the Momella Lakes, are breathtaking. A day hike on Mount Meru offers a unique perspective and provides a refreshing alternative. We also arrange expeditions to the summit.
