7 Days Beyond the Typical Route

A drive to the Masai Mara National Reserve in the early morning reveals one of the rare areas left on the planet where wildlife exists relatively undisturbed, in the quantities that once filled Africa's plains and forests. Being the northern edge of the expansive Serengeti ecosystem, the Mara showcases the incredible seasonal migration of countless wildebeests, zebras, and the predators that follow them. Arrive just in time for lunch and then embark on a game drive in the afternoon.

Dinner and overnight stay will be offered at your camp/lodge.

Following breakfast, we embark on a full day of game driving, with a packed lunch included. The reserve is famous for its black-maned lions, along with a variety of resident wildlife, and it's one of the rare locations where one can spot the Big Five during a morning game drive. Numerous cheetahs are so accustomed to human presence that they often seek shade from the heat under vehicles, and some even climb onto the rooftops for a better perspective on potential prey. For bird lovers, nearly 500 species have been documented here, including 16 varieties of eagles, along with many hawks and falcons, six types of vultures, eight species of storks, four types of bustards (featuring the Kori bustard, which is the heaviest flying bird in the world), and nine species of sunbirds.

Have an optional visit to the Maasai village to learn about their culture, way of living, and the dances before breakfast. Following breakfast, we head to Lake Nakuru National Park. South of Bogoria, across the equator, lies the renowned Lake Nakuru, the most famous lake in the rift valley. Famous globally for its flamingos, it is alkaline and is recognized as one of the natural wonders of the world. Lake Nakuru now serves as a rhino sanctuary, home to over 40 black rhinos and more than 60 white rhinos, but the flamingos remain the primary draw. At times, nearly 2 million flamingos may inhabit the area, creating a breathtaking deep pink band along the lake's shore. We will arrive in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive.

A morning transfer to Aberdare National Park begins early. The journey features beautiful views of the central Kenya highlands, with breaks to admire tea and coffee farms. Elephants, black rhinos, leopards, spotted hyenas, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, buffalos, warthogs, and bushbucks, among other wildlife, inhabit Aberdare National Park. Some rare animals that may be spotted include the Giant Forest hog, bongo, golden cat, serval cat, African wild cat, African civet cat, and the blue duiker.

Dinner will be provided, followed by an overnight stay at a campsite or lodge.

A morning drive to Samburu Game Reserve sets the stage for an adventure. Enjoy a picnic lunch along the way, followed by either an afternoon or evening game drive. Renowned as one of the most stunning parks in Kenya's Northern Circuit, Samburu Game Reserve is home to a variety of native wildlife, including African elephants, striking zebras, and the elegant Masai giraffes. Dinner will be served, and you'll spend the night at a campsite or lodge.

The entire day will be dedicated to discovering this incredible game reserve, which offers a mental refreshment due to its low visitor numbers and lack of crowds. It is home to the Big Five: Elephant, Lion, Rhino, Leopard, Buffalo, as well as Gerenuk, Reticulated Giraffe, Somali Ostrich, Gravy Zebra, Besia Oryx, and the endangered Wild Dog, along with the endangered Pun Cake Tortoise. More than 450 bird species have been recorded here, alongside various aquatic species in the Waso Nyiro River, including vultures, kingfishers, marabous, bateleurs, guinea fowl, Somali ostriches, and others.

Early morning game drive followed by breakfast. Bid farewell as you depart for Nairobi with an en route lunch. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel or airport for your onward flight.
