Mount Kenya National Park

Mount Kenya National Park is relatively young, having been established in 1949, and it is also the site of Africa’s second-highest mountain. This stunning peak, reaching a height of 5,200 meters, is a focal point of Mount Kenya National Park. However, there are many other natural wonders to witness, including various glaciers, lakes, and distinct wildlife species. This is one reason why it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. Each year, many hikers embark on a journey to this national park to climb Mount Kenya. Reaching the summit demands a certain level of experience. The hiking slogan is “Come touch the sky.” This national park is particularly recommended for those who have a passion for adventure. However, there is also the option for a more leisurely visit to appreciate the unique nature and biodiversity of Africa. Notably, the leopards are certainly a highlight.

Location: The drive from Nairobi takes approximately 2 to 3 hours. You can either arrange a tour that includes pick-up from Nairobi or choose to rent a car and drive yourself. If you opt for a tour, your accommodation will be arranged for you. However, there are plenty of guesthouses and camping options available as well. The ideal time to visit is from December to March.
